Overheating dryer - is dangerous. So when you find that your dryer is overheating, it’s better to fix it immediately. Fortunately problems are common and we have an easy solution for you. In most cases the problem is the heating element. The heating element warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the element is partially shorted out, it may produce heat continuously, even if the dryer has reached the proper temperature. When this happens, the dryer gets too hot. So let’s replace the heating element for example Bosch wtg8641xme. Tools needed: new heating element (manufacturers approved), 1/4-inch nut driver, slot screwdriver, vacuum cleaner, work gloves.
- Shutting off the power. Unplug the dryer to disconnect electrical power.
- Removing the back panel. Move the dryer forward and use a 1/4-inch nut driver to remove the screws from the back panel. Remove the back panel from the dryer.
- Disconnecting the wires. Locate the heating element near the bottom of the dryer. Mark the location of wires connected to the heating element and high-limit thermostat or take a digital photograph, so you know how to correctly reconnect them later. Disconnect the wires, using a slot screwdriver to pry the wires off the spades if necessary.
- Removing the heating element. Remove the mounting screws from the heating element using a 1/4-inch nut driver and pull it off of the heater box.
- Transfering the high-limit thermostat to the new heating element. Remove the high-limit thermostat from the existing heating element and install it on the new heating element.
- Installing a new heating element. Position the new heating element on the heater box and line up the mounting screw holes. Insert the mounting screws and tighten them firmly. Properly connect the wires to the new heating element, following the labels or digital photograph.
- Reattaching the back panel. Position the back panel on the back of the dryer. Line up the mounting screw holes. Insert the mounting screws and tighten them firmly.
- Connecting dryer to power. Plug the dryer into the wall outlet to restore electrical power.
After this replacement - your dryer must work like usual, without any overheating. Make some tests, with various programs. If you can't replace the heating element alone, don’t hesitate to contact our customer support and arrange a meeting!
