Whirlpool Dryer powers on but does not heat - How to eliminate?

You get used to good things quickly, so the situation when the drying does not work becomes a complete surprise. A kind of an unpleasant surprise. There are three possible scenarios here - when the dryer does not start drying; stops and interrupts the drying cycle; drying goes on, but the laundry is underdried or damp. The washing machine may not perform the drying cycle for various reasons, and most of them have nothing to do with parts breakdown. If your Whirlpool dryer does not dry the laundry, or leaves it damp, a detailed inspection of the appliance is required to determine the exact cause. When troubleshooting why your dryer will not heat, check to see if any coils on the heating element are broken. If coils are broken, the element needs to be replaced. Whirlpool usually locates the heating element on the back of the dryer (must remove back of dryer) or under the drum (must remove front dryer). Be certain to disconnect power from the dryer. Heating element coils look like stretched out door springs. A bad dryer heating element will have a break in the coil. The dryer element is good if no break is detected. A close inspection is required as some breaks tend to hide among the coils. You can use a multi-meter and check the continuity of the element. If no coils are broken, use an Ohm meter on the two leads of the element and test for continuity. If there is no continuity, the heating element is faulty and needs to be replaced. Testing the heating element with a multimeter will indicate if the element is faulty and causing the no heating issue. Continuity, however, still requires a visual inspection as broken coils may still touch when cool.
