There are many reasons why water accumulates and flows from the refrigerator. There is no need to call an expert and panic, it is quite possible that the solution to the issue is right in front of you and does not require any costs. The problem can be very typical - for example, your refrigerator is thawed and leaks after an unscheduled power outage, or the plug is not firmly attached to the outlet and the contact is broken. Only if you are convinced of the absence of these household factors, you can begin to determine the diagnosis of the breakdown. You could have a blockage in the drain where the water is meant to go when the unit defrosts. This could be because it doesn't melt efficiently, or you have something stuck in the drain. If it is blocked with ice, then you should melt the ice in the drain ( this can take a while) and then insert a piece of 1.25–2mm copper wire about a hand-width into the drain. Wrap the same amount around the heater element. What this modification does is transfer more heat into the drain and melt the ice a little better. If the drain has something blocking it, the problem should resolve once it is cleared. When the freezer goes through the defrost cycle, the melted ice water collects in the defrost drain pan and drains into a pan underneath the refrigerator or near the compressor, where it evaporates over time. If the defrost drain pan is cracked, this could cause a leak. Frost free refrigerator models with a top mount freezer, utilize a drain to take the water melted off the coils to the evaporator pan. This pan collects the water in the bottom of the unit sometimes using the heat of the compressor to increase the evaporation rate. If the drain becomes clogged with ice or debris it will back-up and eventually overflow. This overflow usually collects in the bottom of the fresh food compartment below but can also leak onto the floor. The solution to this problem is to thaw out the ice that is causing this drain clog by flushing it with hot water. How to repair Kenmore fridge - Not cooling enough
Is your refrigerator working but not freezing? This is a fairly common problem. The issue can affect both chambers at once, or it can occur only in one of them. For example, in the refrigerator compartment the temperature is normal, but in the freezer there is a thaw.
