Surely, a malfunctioning KitchenAid dishwasher won’t work at its full capacity so that the quality of the cycle is going to be low. There are several things you can do before calling a professional plumber to check the appliance. The control lock is used to avoid unintended use of the dishwasher as well as to avoid unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle, some models have a sleep mode function. The control lock light will stay on for a short time, indicating that it is activated and all buttons are disabled. If any buttons are pressed while the dishwasher control is locked, the light will flash three times. The door can still be opened/closed while the controls are locked. To turn off the control lock feature press and hold the Lock Button for four seconds, the lock light will turn off. A delay wash option runs the dishwasher at a later time or during off-peak electrical hours. If the delay wash has been selected, the dishwasher will not run until the delay time is reached. To turn off the delay wash feature press CANCEL/DRAIN to cancel the delay and START/RESUME to start the cycle. Access the test mode by pressing the buttons on the dishwasher control panel in this sequence: “HEAT DRY, NORMAL, HEAT DRY, NORMAL”. All the lights on the display will illuminate. Press start and a test cycle should then begin which should cycle through the various functions of the dishwasher. Press the buttons on the control panel in this sequence (starting from the left): “1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3”. If successful then all the lights on the panel should illuminate and you can commence the test by pressing START. If all manipulations below don’t help, contact customer support and arrange a maintenance visit.
