There is a clear sign that the door of your Viking oven doesn’t close. Most likely, you’ve already noticed your place gets unreasonably hot after using the oven. Look closely at the door. It is likely sitting at a bit of an angle and not shutting completely. Hot air is leaking out from the top of the door. This reveals faulty/weak oven door hinges. The door locker is also questionable. Door lockers are very fragile and often break down. The latch connects to a hole inside the oven but it can sometimes get stuck and not budge. Trying to force the door can break the latch so be gentle if you notice your oven door sticking then you might be able to stop the problem before it gets any worse. You should grease the latch using oil to keep it smooth and also carry out regular inspections to ensure the latch hole doesn’t get too dirty. If the latch is cracked or damaged then you will need to replace it. Another possible problem that can cause your oven door to refuse to close is the hinges. Just like with a regular door the hinges on an oven door can get stiff over time and be affected by things like rust and dirt. Use a screwdriver or nut driver to tighten the hinges and prevent wobbling and, therefore, hold the oven door in better alignment to close completely. We strongly recommend arranging a professional maintenance visit to check the rest parts of your Viking oven and make sure everything else works properly. Remember that scheduled diagnostic appointments prolong the life of your units.
