Those owners of Sub-Zero refrigerators who schedule a maintenance visit have nothing to worry about cleaning. Unfortunately, if you don’t do it personally, your appliance has all chances to break down soon. Be certain, a compressor will be the first as it gets clogged really fast and needs regular cleaning. Do it ASAP! The first step in your Sub-Zero refrigerator coil cleaning should be to access the condenser. For most models, this will be found behind the large grille near the top of the unit. Some models have grilles that can be lifted straight up and removed, while others need to be unscrewed. For these units, open the refrigerator doors and unscrew the grille from the bottom. Now you can tilt the top of the grille toward you, unhook the springs from the back, and lift it off to remove. Then, use your appliance brush to remove any dust, lint, or other debris clinging to the condenser. Be as gentle as you can with your brush, but also be sure to remove as much dirt as possible. Be careful not to damage or disconnect any other parts. Once all of the dust has been cleaned off, use your vacuum hose attachment to clear out the compartment. Once the entire condenser section looks like new again, you can move on to the final step. Finally, you can start to finish up by putting the refrigerator grille back into place. Slot the grille back into position, and make sure to reconnect the springs to the back if necessary. Replace the screws that were removed and you’re good to go for a test run.
