Wrong temperature of your washer could damage clothes. That’s why it’s important to always set the right temperature. But what you will do, if you set the right temperature and washer gives wrong. It’s easy to fix. Most common solution in this case - replacing water temperature switch. Let’s begin to replace the switch in your Whirlpool wtw5000dw1.
- Shutting off the electricity. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
- Removing the water temperature control knob. Pull the water temperature control knob off the stem of the water temperature switch.
- Opening the control console. Pull the plastic end caps off the sides of the control console. Remove the screws at the base of the control console. Pull the control console slightly forward and then swing it over the top of the back panel.
- Removing the water temperature switch. Disconnect the wire harness from the water temperature switch. Pry up the locking tab and rotate the water temperature switch 1/8 turn to release it from the console panel. Pull the water temperature switch out of the console.
- Installing the new water temperature switch. Position the new water temperature switch on the console panel with the locking tab positioned 1/8 turn from the top. Push the temperature switch into the console panel and rotate the locking tab to the 12 o'clock position to lock the tab. Connect the wire harness to the new water temperature switch.
- Reinstalling the water temperature control knob. Line up the flat side of the water temperature control knob with the flat side of the shaft on the new water temperature switch. Push the water temperature control knob down onto the temperature switch shaft.
- Restoring the power to the washer.
