If you are happy owner of dryer, you know how it’s comfortable. But after some years of usage you may face common problems. One of them is not turning drum. If your dryer starts, but the drum won’t spin, it's probably due to one of these common reasons. Let’s describe this problem and find a solution for dryer Whirlpool 1LE4900XKW0.
- Drive belt in dryer is broken. To fix this issue, turn the drum by hand. A working belt should provide some resistance, so if the drum turns very easily and loosely, the belt is probably broken. Unplug your dryer and remove the lid so you can inspect the belt to confirm that it’s broken.
- One more common reason is worn drum rollers. To determine whether the drum rollers are worn out, remove the belt from the dryer and turn the drum by hand. If the drum doesn’t spin freely, check the rollers for wear. If one or more of the rollers don’t turn freely, it’s a good idea to replace them all at the same time.
- Worn drum bearing. The drum bearing supports the rear of the drum. When it wears out, it puts strain on the motor, causing it to stop. To determine if this is the problem, remove the dryer belt and turn the drum by hand. If the drum is hard to turn and/or makes squealing or grinding noises when turned, the bearing is worn out and needs to be replaced.
- Drive motor. The drive motor turns the drum and the blower wheel to exhaust the air. First, check the motor to see if it makes a humming noise. If the motor still hums, remove the belt from the motor and check the blower wheel to ensure that it is not obstructed. Next, with the belt removed, try rotating the drum by hand. If the drum does not rotate freely, determine what is causing the drum to bind. If the drum turns freely and the blower wheel is clear of obstructions, the drive motor might be defective. If you suspect the motor is at fault, replace it.
