Homeowners prefer using Rheem heaters as they are proven and reliable helpers. Unfortunately, there are no such devices which are able to work forever. Be ready to face the first minor troubles after five years of usage. Improper maintenance may lead to the breakdowns even faster. Nevertheless, we can teach you how to eliminate the problems yourself without any additional help. Double check that your heater is turned on. Start by checking the breaker in your electrical panel. If the breaker was tripped, check for loose connections before turning it back on. Also make sure that the furnace switch is turned on. The switch is usually located in the basement, either near the furnace, by the basement stairs or in the ceiling. If your heater has a standing pilot light, make sure that it’s lit. You should be able to see it when you open the combustion chamber door. If it’s out, follow the furnace lighting instructions and re-light. Look for blockage that is a common troubleshooting issue. If you’ve checked all of the above, see if any debris – snow, ice, weeds or grass – are blocking your furnace venting. A blower fan also needs a thorough check. Not all heaters have a power button for the blower fan, but if yours does, check to make sure it’s on. Call a professional when you are not so handy to conduct all the steps yourself. Remember safety comes first so don’t risk your life repairing the heater.
